How outstation fares actually work
Outstation hire is charged per kilometre against a minimum of 300 kilometres per day. That minimum is the part people most often miss: a two-day trip carries a 600 kilometre minimum whether you drive that far or not, and a short overnight run is therefore priced on the minimum rather than the odometer.
Distance is counted from your pickup point to the destination and back to the garage, which is the standard basis for outstation work in Karnataka. We show you the figure before you commit, so there is no discussion at the end of the trip about what the number should have been.
On top of the per-kilometre rate sit three things: the driver allowance, which is 300 rupees a day for cars and 500 for the Tempo Traveller and mini bus; night charges for running after 10pm; and toll, parking and state permit, all at actuals. We pass those through at cost rather than estimating them into a rounder number.
Choosing the vehicle for the distance
For two or three people on a run to Mysore or Hassan, the ETIOS does the job and costs the least per kilometre. Add luggage or a fourth passenger and the Ertiga is the better call for the same roads.
For the hill routes, Coorg, Chikmagalur, Ooty and Munnar, we usually suggest the Innova or the Crysta. The ghat sections are long and the extra ground clearance and engine make a real difference to how the day feels, particularly with a full car.
Groups travelling together for a wedding or a temple trip are better served by the Tempo Traveller or the mini bus than by two cars. One vehicle means one driver, one fare basis and a group that arrives at the same time.
Interstate travel and permits
Our vehicles carry all-India permits, so crossing into Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala or Goa is an ordinary booking rather than a special arrangement. The state permit charge for the crossing is passed on at actuals and shown as its own line.
For temple trips to Tirupati, beach runs to Goa and Pondicherry, and the long hauls to Hyderabad or Munnar, the vehicle and paperwork are the easy part. Tell us the dates and the number of travellers and we will put a plan and a price together.
